Our favorite vacation spot in India.
As lovely as it was to be on vacation, both Adam and I (and even the children) found our thoughts often turning to our dear Hector, a close friend and beloved member in our church. Hector passed away the day before we left, on the 29th of March, 2013. Hector is Lynnisha’s father. She is also a fellow blogger and just gave birth to the cutest princess! I am so blessed by her fortitude and strength. Goa was Hector’s hometown so it was difficult to not miss him. Truly, the kindest and most gentlest of men in our church – he will always be remembered and missed!
The children and I have been reading Pagoo (Holling Clancey Holling) and it was great to actually find little hermit crabs, rescue star fish and watch them gracefully turn over, save little clams and sea snails and watch them burrow deep into the sand. Our feisty-est hermit carb was instantly named Pagoo and Ria was delighted to also find a little barnacle.
My mother joined us for the last few days. It is always refreshing to be with her! She really needed the break. She has been working so hard!! She is such an example to me of trusting God and giving her best for His service! Wish I could accomplish a fourth of what she does and possess at least a third of her energy! She puts a teenager to shame!
This is when I catch up with reading for pleasure. I read Marquez’s collection of short stories, Jhumpa Lahiri’s, The Namesake, William Golding’s The Spire and Joseph Conrad’s (very profound) Lord Jim. This is one of the best parts of vacation. To be able to read without all the frequent breaks that domesticity necessitates!
Rest tends to hone diligence, so that the joys and pleasures ( and challenges) of school and home life are welcomed! At least so it is now with me. I am rested, refreshed and happy to be back in the saddle again!
“Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam,
Be it ever so humble there’s no place like home!”
So sorry to hear of Lynnisha’s dad passing away:( I know she hasn’t blogged in a while.
Lovely to see pictures of you and your beautiful family including your mum:)
Holidays are great! I look forward to going to goa one day. Been there when I was little and don’t remember much. I know it’s changed a lot as well since then!
Lynn has had her heart and hands full with moving house, loss of her dad and her adorable newborn. She is amazing – handling it all! Goa must have been even more beautiful back then….I’m sure it has changed since…but it’s just lovely! We are actually moving there this September (God willing) So if you ever do visit, it will be great to meet up!
Probhita! Hello my friend! What a joy to read your latest blog and to see you, Adam, the kids and YOUR MOM! I almost cried reading about your trip and looking at the wonderful pics. You guys are always in my heart and prayers.
Thanks Brandy! Somehow beaches always bring Mahabalipuram to mind! Miss you! Actually it looks like our entire church is relocating to Goa!! Very exciting…so maybe we might meet on a beach again?!!! You know, you’re always more than welcome!!
